Synapticon and Stabilus form partnership to develop a joint product line of integrated actuators for humanoid robots

Koblenz, July 29, 2026 - Synapticon GmbH, a specialist in integrated drive technology and functional safety in robotics, and Stabilus SE, a leading global manufacturer and provider of motion control solutions, have entered into a strategic partnership. Together, the two companies will develop and manufacture a joint product line of integrated actuators for humanoid robots and other robotics applications.

Humanoid robots are currently leaving the research labs and are ready to take the first step into industrial deployment. This shifts the decisive challenge: from a working prototype to reliable series production, while ensuring the highest quality standards and low maintenance costs. This is exactly where the partnership comes in - at the actuation level, which determines precision, safety, and scalability in every humanoid joint.

Two competencies, one system

The partners' roles complement each other perfectly: Synapticon delivers the intelligence of the actuator - software, functional safety, electronics, sensor design, and the drive technology. Stabilus contributes mechanical design, sourcing, industrialization, manufacturing, assembly, and logistics. For the automotive industry alone, Stabilus has already delivered millions of electromechanical actuators. It is only the interplay of both competencies that turns individual components into a production-ready, scalable product.

The joint product line covers humanoid joints across all size classes - from head and wrist joints to hips and knees. From the outset, manufacturing is designed for high-volume production, modeled on automotive manufacturing and quality standards.

“Humanoid robots need actuators that bring together motion control, safety, and high-volume manufacturing from day one,” says Simon Fischinger, CEO of Synapticon. “With Stabilus, we gain a partner that has been manufacturing precision mechanics in automotive quality and volume for decades. Together, we are taking the actuation level of humanoid robots from prototype to series production.”

“Humanoid robotics is one of the most exciting growth markets of the coming decade. We have known Synapticon for many years and are confident that with this company we have an outstanding partner at our side for our expansion into robotics,” says David Sabet, Chief Technology Officer of Stabilus SE. “Synapticon sets the standard in robotics for integrated drive intelligence and functional safety - exactly the competence that complements our manufacturing and industrialization strength to form a production-ready overall system. Our ambition is to take a key position in the actuation level of humanoid robots. This partnership is an important building block of our growth strategy beyond our established industries.”
