Taking responsibility - living responsibility Sustainability at Stabilus

Ecological, economic and social sustainability is the key to a world worth living in tomorrow. The Stabilus Group also attaches great importance to corporate responsibility in the areas of environmental, social and good corporate governance (ESG).

For this reason, we are assessed by three rating agencies that reflect our stakeholders and the most relevant ESG issues in a special way: CDP, Ecovadis and Sustainalytics.
Our goal is to achieve top sustainability ratings by 2030. To this end, we will consistently implement a bundle of measures that have already been planned.

Sustainable development goals - with relevance for corporate action

Stabilus is committed to six United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that can be directly influenced by corporate action: quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, decent work and economic growth, sustainable consumption and production, and climate action.

In particular, we focus on the following areas:

  • CO2 emissions
  • Energy consumption and management
  • Water consumption and management
  • Occupational safety
  • Diversity (e.g. women in management positions)
  • Recruitment and training of talent
  • Sustainability in the value chain
  • compliance

SBTi commitment for the development and validation of reduction targets

With regard to greenhouse gas emissions, we have set ourselves CO2 reduction targets to be achieved by 2030: a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and an additional 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions. We have also set ourselves the goal of CO2 neutrality, which is to be achieved by 2050.

All locations worldwide follow a clear roadmap for CO2 reduction. This includes direct savings in natural gas and electricity, determining the carbon footprint of our products, CO2 reductions in new research and development projects and measures to reduce CO2 within the value chain.

We are committed to setting short and long-term company-wide emission reduction targets in line with the SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative) criteria and intend to submit our targets to the SBTi for validation. Stabilus is now listed as "Committed" in the SBTi Target Dashboard.

The SBTi is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to do their part to combat the climate crisis.

Occupational health and safety

Occupational health and safety is an expression of our responsibility to every single employee worldwide and is firmly established at Stabilus.

Global EHS management systems

EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) management systems are implemented at all production sites worldwide - as a common basis for a uniform understanding of safety. ISO 45001 certification at selected locations is more than just proof for us - it is a driver for continuous improvement of our occupational health and safety measures and a clear signal to our employees: Your safety is our top priority.

Active safety culture

Stabilus continuously analyzes health and safety risks, develops effective training programs and promotes an active safety culture. All occupational incidents are recorded and analyzed worldwide and appropriate corrective measures are defined.

Group-wide exchange of knowledge

Best practices, experiences and safety solutions are systematically recorded and communicated across all locations. This ensures that safety-related topics do not remain isolated, but are communicated in a targeted manner throughout the Group.
